Stella: Thank you for taking time out to talk to me at this very trying time for your family, can you give an insight into the kind of person your sister was?
Bolatito: She was a very lovely woman, who loved her children, her husband and people generally. Everywhere she went she was loved for her kindness and friendliness, She was so full of life.
Stella: Did you know that your sister and her husband where having any marital issues?
Bolatito: Of cos, I knew they were having  marital issues, which is was always about the husband, he is insecure. In fact his main issue bothers on insecurity. He is also too possessive very jealous.
Stella: He said he overheard her talking on the phone to man, saying he doesn’t know how to make love and that was what provoked him.
Bolatito: (Cuts in) The man is very good at lying, always ready to tell lies and cook up things, that’s his expertise,to imagine things. Let me ask him a question, has he ever seen my sister with anyone? NEVER!  At some point he said different people saw my sister on a bike at different times, He now said my sister was gallivanting about, running around the whole Apapa, he even went ahead to constantly harass my sister’s male friends on Facebook asking  who they were to her.
Stella: Can you tell me why you think your sister’s husband killed her?
Bolatito: Their issue was almost getting out of hand by December after we had just buried my brother, my mum and my sister were in my house. At some point my sister left to go home and got home by 11pm that day. When she got home, she called us to say her husband had started making trouble at home.
That he said he would slap her, my mum left my place  in Ilupeju to theirs in Egbeda ,by the time she got there the neighbors had settled the issue. The next day I went to the social welfare department to report and was told to bring my sister. I went straight to get her but was stopped by her husband who said she wasn’t going to leave their house with me. After some arguments, I managed to take my sister out with me and she was reluctant at first and even later succeeded in going back into the house while I stopped to direct a driver to where we would be going.
I went back and saw her sitting on the bed crying and before we knew it the whole place was filled with neighbors, begging for us not to take her away. As much as my mum and I tried to force her to come with us, she kept saying what will people say?, what about the children?.
Stella: Do you know of any event that might have led to her death that day?
Bolatito: According to the neighbors, my sister’s husband had seized her phone that day and was calling all male contacts and saying all sought of thrash to them, whereas he is the one who cheats serially on my sister and my sister discovered at that point that he had a love child from one of his mistresses (which he initially denied), and that caused a big rift between them. I have messages he even sent to my friend’s sister asking her out.
On Saturday while my sister was on an official trip to Abuja, he called me on Sunday morning to ask me to beg my sister to forgive him, that she wasn’t talking to him at home up until she travelled, I spoke to my sister who in turn told me she was tired of his constant harassment and accusations.
Stella: (*Cuts in ) So that was the issue they had before this incident happened ?
Bolatito: Yes
Stella: He had a babymama and your sister wasn’t happy about it?
Bolatito: Of cos my sister wasn’t happy about that
Stella: But he insists the reason he was provoked was because he overheard her on the phone talking to her lover, what do you think about this?
Bolatito: That’s not new from him, he has always said that. Accusing her of always cheating, even going as far as saying she slept with all the men in a group picture she had taken in a colleague’s wedding .
Stella: Is your family demanding justice or have you all forgiven him as it was quoted your mum had said?
Bolatito: From hiding he called my mum and was begging, and my mum being a Christian told him she had forgiven him because revenge is for God, but told him to report himself to the nearest police station because the law must take its cause.
Stella: How did your sister die? Was she strangled? Was there an autopsy report after her death?
Bolatito: We are still waiting for the autopsy reports .
Stella: He said he pushed her and didn’t realize that she had fallen, and saw her lying the next morning while he was leaving..
Bolatito: Oh what a grave liar! He is a bloody liar (raises voice). In fact, I think you should talk to my sister-in-law who lived with them.
Stella: Let me talk to her
Late brother’s wife Omotara who is nursing a two month old baby comes on the phone.
Omotara: Good evening
Stella: thank you for your time Omotara, while you were living with your late sister in-law did you observe any form of physical altercation?
Omotara: Yes
Stella: Can you recall a particular event?
Omotara: His problem has always been what neighbors say, what people say, whatever he hears outside he comes back straight home boiling and spoiling for a fight without even listening to whatever his wife says. In fact to him my sister in-law probably slept with everyone ever seen around her.
Stella: Does your sister in-law talk back at him? Provoke him? Or abuse him?
Omotara: I think in the initial stages when he started she was responding, but at some point she just stopped, all through my stay with them I never saw her talk back at him. Once I asked her why she would sit there and be accused of something she didn’t even know about, and she said it was better she didn’t say anything to avoid being beat up.
Stella: What do you think must have made him kill her? Do you think she responded and it all got messy?
Omotara: I am sure whatever happened he could not control his anger; his anger was a major reason why he did what he did, because he could never control it. When he gets like that, my sister in-law starts to run around the house to avoid him hitting her in that fury, the first thing he does is to take her phone so she cannot be able to call anyone. He will lock the main doors, to the house, turn the lights off and start beating her , in the case that led to her death I am sure she tried to scream…I am sure she must have tried to really scream. Their neighbor who was charging his phone in their house told me that when he came and saw lights were off he thought they might had slept not knowing what was going on inside. She was a very kind spirited woman very loving and accommodating, a very down to earth and selfless person. I wish she hadn’t married him and at the right time without considering what people would say it’s just a pity…I really wish she left when she could.
Hands phone back to Bolatitio who was crying.I asked her not to cry because of the mum and she said they were talking to me in the car.

Stella :do you have any words for the man who killed your sister?

Bolatito: he called me on Sunday to meet me and do whatever i want to do to him.we have not recovered from the loss of our brother and he now did this to us?God had blessed him with a loving wife, why not trust your wife?why do you care about what the neighbours say?
I don’t have anything to say to him but i want justice to be carried out to the end.
Stella :Have you heard from his family?
Bolatito :Yes his younger brother contacted us to find out if it was true on what happened and i confirmed and he screamed and promised to come and see us but he hasn’t
At this point of the interview, Bolatito broke down into tears lamenting the situation and the interview ended.
Also on stelladimokokurkus.com are screenshots of a chat between the alleged murderer and a family member. Unfortunately the chats are not arranged but the information paints an even clearer picture of the situation.
