A Japanese Plastic Surgeon Katsuya Takasu has become a huge fan of the Nigerian U-23 team promising each player $30,000 if they win the gold medal in the ongoing Olympics.

The Doctor was saddened by the travails of the team on their journey to Brazil which included being stranded in Atlanta before making it to the Olympics with hours to spare before their first match and having the wrong national anthem played.

Takasu pledged to reward the team for their bravery. He also promised to pay the team $20, 000 dollars for silver and $12,000 for bronze.

The team have done well in Rio, outclassing Japan in a 9-goal-thriller coming out 5-4 winners before a slim victory over Sweden meant they qualified, a loss to Columbia was while disheartening ultimately redundant as they had already made it out.

They then beat the Danish national team to set up a Semi-Final clash against Germany on Wednesday. Should Nigeria win that they would have a chance to win their first Football gold medal since 1996.

Takasu has been advised that if the Nigerian team wins and if he does pay the money, it should not be wired to the Nigeria Football Federation but paid the players directly so as to ensure it actually gets to them.
