Jonathan lost despite incumbency – APC reminds Obaseki

The All Progressives Congress (APC) says Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State should prepare to lose his reelection bid as former President Goodluck Jonathan lost in 2015 despite being the incumbent.

Deputy National Publicity Secretary of APC, Yekini Nabena said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate should be ready for excruciating defeat in the September 19 polls.

According to him, incumbency confers no advantage on any candidate as the will of the electorate is what determines the winner in an election.

He said that the people of Edo State have already made up their minds to vote for the APC and its candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and no amount of cajoling from the PDP would make them have a rethink.

“We are not of afraid of incumbency.  We have seen a lot of situations where incumbent governors lost their reelection.

“We have seen an incumbent President lost his reelection in this country. So, it is no problem for us. incumbency does not matter anymore this time. It is the people that matters and I believe that the people of Edo are ready to vote enmasse for the APC,” Daily Independent quoted Nabena as saying on Wednesday.
