Musiliu Obanikoro, the prosecution’s main witness in the N2.2bn fraud trial of the immediate past Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, incured the wrath of the presiding judge with his absence at Thursday’s hearing.

Giving excuse for Obanikoro’s absence, the prosecuting counsel for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Rotimi Jacobs (SAN), explained that Obanikoro has been hospitalised.

Jacobs’ substantiated his claim with a medical report from an Ikoyi hospital.

However, Justice Mojisola Olatoregun warned the prosecution team against any foul play. She threatened to revoke licenses of doctors involved, if the medical report is not genuine.

Justice Olatoregun, who adjourned the case until March 18, said Obanikoro must  be in court at the next hearing, or risk being three months, “so that he can be coming to court in Black Maria.”

“He must present himself before the court on the next adjourned date or be compelled to do so,” Justice Olatoregun noted.
