JUST IN: Ikoyi prison under attack from suspected hoodlums

Ikoyi correctional facility in Lagos state has been attacked by suspected hoodlums.

The hoodlums have set some buildings ablaze in a bid to free inmates of the facility.

However, prison wardens have called for help from the Nigeria Army and Nigeria Police Force.

Lagos state government who confirmed the incident disclosed security operatives were standing guard to repel attack on the prison facility.

This is coming days after prisoners escaped from Oko prison facility in Benin, Edo state.

Although Edo state Governor, Godwin Obaseki on Wednesday threatened prisoners to return or face the consequences, there are still no reports on the whereabouts of the escaped convicts.
