Multiple bomb blast rocked Kano central mosque during the Friday Jumaat prayer where many lives were lost and many people sustained various degrees of injuries.
The explosion caused pandemonium around the area which is housing the palace of the Emir of Kano.
The explosion, which went off at about 2 p.m. before the Imam of the mosque, Sani Zahradeen, began his sermon, was said to have been followed by sporadic gunshots.
A heavy smoke was seen billowing into the sky immediately after the explosion which was sighted from far away areas of the city.
It was observed that rescue operations vehicles from Good Samaritans were moving very fast toward the scene of the blast, while dead bodies and other injured people were being taken to various hospitals for medical attention.
