Katsina: Nigeria’s 13th Poorest State Released N500m For APC Convention (See Evidence)

Despite being one of Nigeria’s poorest states, Katsina released N500 million towards the success of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Convention in 2018.

This was revealed in a letter ordering the disbursement of the funds. The letter dated May 29, 2018 was signed by Aliyu Hamisu, Political Adviser to Governor Aminu Masari.

Popular online newspaper, Sahara Reporters released the letter today.

The letter directed the Accountant-General of the state to release the funds.

It read, “I am directed to convey approval for the release of N500,000, 000 only to the Special Adviser, Political, to enable the office extend KTSG assistance and donation to the National Convention Committee to enable it carry out the national convention at FCT, Abuja.”

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, Katsina is Nigeria’s 13th poorest state.

In the audited financial report for 2016 and 2017 it presented to the party’s National Caucus, APC had announced that it set aside N1.3 billion for its National Convention and Presidential Election primaries from its 2018 budget totalling N14.82 billion.
