According to reports a Keke driver was allegedly killed by Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) official along Oregun Road, Ikeja Lagos for overtaking their Van.
According to Within Nigeria, the NSCDC was in an operational Van together with his colleagues when the incident took place.
NSCDC Official had reportedly accused the Keke rider of overtaking their vehicle, as a result of the Keke drivers actions, they got out from their vehicle, took hold of the rider and one of them shot him in the head.
Youth who had seen what happened, confronted the NSCDC Officials who fled for their lives, leaving their van behind.
The angry Youths later set the abandoned Van on fire.
In a short video of the incident posted on Instagram on Saturday, a man was heard protesting against the shooting in Pidgin English. He claimed the keke driver died after being shot.
The man cried out, “Civil defense na im kill keke Napep (rider). We don burn their pick up,”
In the video, another voice in the background was heard saying “because he overtook them.”
In the video, they showed the burning van as crowd gathered around the dead Keke driver.
However, the spokesperson for the NSCDC in Lagos, Kehinde Badah, claimed that the keke driver was shot in the leg but did not die.

Badah said, “Something like that actually happened but I don’t have the details yet. I was told that the incident is being investigated. The person that was shot in the leg is not dead.”
