The kidnappers who abducted, Augusta, the sister of Oronto Douglas, President Goodluck Jonathan’s Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Research, Documentation and Strategy have demanded N500 million from the family to effect her release.

A gang of nine men dressed in army fatigues abducted the woman from her food provisions shop in Ogbia local government on Monday, and made their getaway with speedboats.

A source from within the family said the kidnappers did not make any contact until Thursday when they called his phone in the wee hours of the morning and demanded the sum of N500 million.

“The kidnappers called me at about 2.am today (Thursday) and demanded N500million ransom before they will release Augusta.

“But, I told them that such money can only be gotten from the Central Bank”, said the family member.

The family member said when they dialled the number back, they got an error message from the network claiming the number that the kidnappers used calling them moments ago was non-existent.

Bayelsa police have said that they are intensifying search and rescue efforts.
