One of the suspected killers of Funke Olakunrin daughter of the leader of Afenifere, pan-Yoruba socio-political group,  Reuben Fasoranti, made an attempt to escape from the isolation centre in Ondo state where he is being treated for COVID-19.

TheCable gathered from a source at the hospital that the suspect’s plan to escape was quashed by the alarm raised by doctors and nurses at the hospital, which alerted security operatives.

According to the source, the suspect pretended that he needed to use the bathroom and took a run when he assumed that eyes were not on him.

“He didn’t know that he is being monitored closely. He had taken permission to use the toilet but before you knew it, he started heading towards the exit point,” the source said.

It was reported that the police has beefed up security at the isolation centre and cuffed the suspect to his bed.
