Land dispute: Police launch manhunt for Lagos community head for ordering man’s killing

Omotola Adeboyejo, the community head (Baale) of Museyo, in the Ibeju Lekki area of Lagos State, is on the run for allegedly ordering the killing of a man over a land dispute.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, SP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed this in a tweet.

The victim’s daughter, who tweets via the handle @thegaljubril, raised the alarm over the incident on Sunday.

She said that the incident occurred on Saturday, July 15.

According to her, Adeboyejo instructed his police escort to shoot her father, who died immediately.

She said her father was first beaten mercilessly after the Baale hit him with a charm, before the policeman shot him in the head.

“A power drunk baale(head of town) omotola adeboyejo ordered his (escort mobile police) to shoot my dad on the the head after seriously having boys to beat him up over a land dispute, he took the life of my dad in the presence of my kid sis and step mum.@BenHundeyin,” @thegaljubril tweeted.

She appealed to Nigerians to help her get justice for her father.

“He ordered one of his escorts to shoot his head after hitting him with a charm, this 15 2023 around Museyo Ibeju Lekki Lagos state. Please I’m seeking for the help of All Nigerians to help me out so I can get Justice for my Father,” she further tweeted.

Reacting to the tweets, the Lagos police spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said, “The police arrived the scene shortly after getting the report. The Baale and his boys had fled. The Baale and his family have equally fled their home. Efforts are on to apprehend him and bring him to justice.”
