Late Monarch Won’t Be Buried With Human Heads

Brigadier General Atom Kpera, the Chairman of the Burial Committee for the late Tor Tiv, Dr. Alfred Torkula, has debunked rumours that the late monarch will be interred with human heads.

Kpera, who spoke with the media on Friday, also the burial would be conducted by a Catholic priest, The Sun reports.

He assured every resident of Tiv land that it was alien to their culture to bury any late monarch with a human head.

“The Tiv tradition does not involve burying mon­arch with anybody. Nobody should entertain any fear at all as the Tor Tiv will not be buried with the head of anybody. All the Tor Tivs are buried in one place and that is why we have told you that the burial would be conducted by a Catholic priest,” he said.

The burial festivities, which commenced on January 28^th, is expected to be concluded on February 4^th.

Recall that the late Tor Tiv died on November 23, 2015, in Abuja aged 71.
