Local Vigilante Kills 30 Boko Haram Members in Bornu

A Vigilante Group popularly known as Civilian JTF killed 30 members of Boko Haram Sect who attempted to invade Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State yesterday.

Kareto, a community in Mobbar Local Government Area bordering Niger Republic was also attacked.

According to Vanguard, Sources said the gunmen, using Hilux vehicles and motorcycles and armed with AK-47 rifles, improvised explosive devices, IEDs, and petrol bombs (Molotov Cocktail), were sighted at Kareto by some good Samaritans and immediately the youths were alerted and they mobilised themselves. 30 Boko Haram members were killed, several escaped into the bush. Only five vigilantes sustained injuries.

The Spokesperson of Bornu Elders Forum, Engineer Bulama Gubio also told Vanguard that “There was huge success as 30 members of Boko Haram, who attempted to overrun Kareto, Gubio and other surrounding communities were killed by our youths. The areas are now calm as normal activities have since returned.”
