The question has always been asked playfully; Who would you choose to save, your mother and your wife? Well this Chinese man found himself in this dilemma when floods hit Daxian Village, in Xingtai City of North China’s Hebei Province.
The man, 39-year-old Gao Fengshou had to make a choice; save his wife, 2 kids and sick father or dash across town to save his mother– he chose his mother.
He had known about the coming flood, but had done nothing and had gone to sleep instead. He was woken by his wife about the flood hitting and he then proceeded to abandon his family and race across town to save his mother whose house was already waist-deep in water.
He’d saved his mother and then found that he couldn’t go back home as the water made it impossible. After several hours, he’d finally made it home and to his relief, his family had made it by huddling on the roof of the house.
Just one problem–his wife doesn’t want him anymore. He is now begging her to take him back.
The flood killed over 100 people with almost another 100 missing.
