Man In Court For Allegedly Selling Fake Phones

For allegedly selling fake telephone handsets under the pretext of being original ones, a trader, Goodman Chikezie, was on Thursday arraigned in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.

Chikezie, 29, who lives at 9, Opakunle Close, off Orimolade St., Ogba, Lagos, is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, fraud and being in possession of stolen properties.

The prosecutor, Insp Rachael Williams, told the court that the offences were committed on March 18 at the residence of the accused.

Williams told the court that the accused was arrested following intelligence information available to the police.

“When the accused was arrested, the police found in his possession SIM packs of different networks, many fake phones and a digital phone,” he said.

According to the prosecution, the offences contravene Sections 321, 327 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Magistrate, Mrs L.Y Balogun, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case till April 19 for mention. (NAN)
