Mark visits Minna to sue for peace in PDP

Senate President David Mark has began strategic moves in his effort to reconcile the differences among the aggrieved members of the two factions of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP).

There are also insinuations that Senator Mark had travelled to Minna, the state capital of Niger state yesterday to visit Niger State Governor Babangida Aliyu who a strong member of the faction ( New PDP)  that was created last Saturday.

As it was gathered that the Senate President was billed to meet last night with the governor, and major stakeholders of the party in the state at the Presidential lodge.

According to a reliable source, “The Senate President is on a peace mission to Minna. Though it coincided with the Course 3 set of NDA, he is here principally to truce in the crisis rocking the PDP”.

The Senate President was reported to have arrived Minna Airport in a private helicopter yesterday and immediately drove to the residence of former military President Ibrahim Babangida to solicit his support as well as advice on the lingering PDP crises.

Senator Mark was with Senator Tunde Ogbeha and two other Senators from the state – Senators Dahiru Awaisu Kuta and Zaynab Kure in a closed-door meeting which was reported to have lasted about 30 minutes.

However after, the meeting, with Babangida, the convoy left Minna for the palace of the Etsu Nupe and chairman, Niger state council of Chiefs, Dr. Yahaya Abubakar, in Bida.

Though a source in Government House also revealed that the Senate President was in Minna for the reunion meeting of Course 3 set of the Nigeria Defence Academy (NDA), which he is the leader, but it was learnt that the visit was geared towards attempts to make peace in the party.
