Reality TV star, Mercy Eke, opened up about a deeply personal and emotional aspect of her life during a candid conversation with media personality Chude Jideonwo. The renowned influencer, originally from Imo state, disclosed that her mother had attempted to terminate her pregnancy before she was born, revealing the difficult circumstances surrounding her early existence.
According to Mercy, her mother faced considerable pressure from one of her aunts who questioned the decision to have another child. With five children already, including four daughters and one son, her mother’s aunt expressed disapproval and suggested terminating the pregnancy. This put immense strain on her mother’s mental health, leading her to contemplate getting rid of the unborn child.
Mercy’s mother succumbed to the suggestion and attempted various local methods to end the pregnancy, but all attempts failed. Despite the challenging circumstances, Mercy bravely clung to life and defied the odds. As she recounted the events of her early life, she displayed a resilient spirit, proudly stating that she stubbornly clung on and refused to succumb to her mother’s attempts to terminate her existence.
Years later, her mother disclosed the heart-wrenching story to her. However, instead of harboring resentment or bitterness, Mercy embraced her life story with grace and understanding. She acknowledged her mother’s past struggles and emphasized that she was relieved that the attempts to get rid of her had failed. Mercy’s mother later expressed her happiness at the life she gave birth to and how Mercy has grown into a successful and accomplished individual.
