Messi Casts Doubts On Barcelona Future With New Manager Koeman

Barcelona captain, Lionel Messi has reportedly revealed to new club manager Ronald Koeman on Thursday that he has deep doubts about staying at Camp Nou this summer.

 

Messi who seems distraught at the club is believed to have held a one-on-one meeting with head coach, Koeman to discuss his future amid suggestions that the attacker could seek a move away from the Catalan giants ahead of next season.

 

RAC1 reports that Messi informed Barca’s new head coach that he was considering an exit and currently sees himself ‘more out than in’ at the club.

Barcelona’s devastating 8-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of the Champions League allegedly took an immense toll on the captain, whose current contract at the Camp Nou is due to expire next summer.

Manchester City and Inter Milan have both recently been rumoured to show interest, and it is believed that the former would be the favourites to sign him should he seek new grounds.

The 33-year-old scored 31 times and registered 26 assists in 44 appearances for Barca in 2019-20, but he only managed three goals in the Champions League.

 

The 2019/20 Champions League season can be regarded as one of the club’s worst outing in the competition since 1992.
