Former presidential aide Reno Omokri has pointed out that many Nigerians do not genuinely seek justice for the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, The Herald reports.

In a tweet, Omokri said that the call for justice is not about a fair inquiry but rather a demand for mob justice against specific people they hold grudges against.

Omokri believes that to these individuals, justice for Mohbad must entail implicating particular persons, regardless of the facts.

He expressed concern for the Nigerian Police Force, stating the challenges they face when conducting investigations amid public expectations.

He said that some may accuse the police of bribery or compromise if the investigation clears certain individuals.

Omokri suggests that some people do not seek an investigation but rather an inquisition.

“Many Nigerians actually do not want #JusticeForMohBad. What they want is mob Justice against identified people they don’t like. To them, Justice For MohBad means that it just must be a certain person or persons.

“I am really feeling sorry for the @PoliceNG. If their report clears certain persons, some people will insist they have been bribed or otherwise compromised. They don’t want an investigation. They want an inquisition,” he tweeted.

Meanwhile, The Herald reports controversial Lagos socialite, Balogun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command over an ongoing investigation into the circumstances leading to the death of Mohbad.

The spokesperson of Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the development in a statement released on Thursday night.

Hundeyin said, “Yes, Balogun Eletu aka Sam Larry is now in our custody. He is currently assisting with the ongoing investigation.”

There had been reports that the state police command had earlier invited Marlian Label boss, Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, and Sam Larry for questioning over Mohbad’s death.

The police last week, also confirmed that pathologists had concluded the autopsy conducted on Mohbad, while they await the result.

He said, “Autopsy has been concluded. Awaiting results.”

The autopsy was carried out following the exhumation of Mohbad by a combined team of the Nigeria Police Force and health officials.

The police had also arrested the nurse who reportedly injected the deceased singer before his demise on Tuesday, September 12.
