Monarch, 4 others killed, many more kidnapped as bandits storm Zamfara village

Bandits have killed five persons, including the District Head, and abducted an unconfirmed number of persons during an attack on Gada town in Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The District Head, Alhaji Umar Bawan-Allah, was said to have been killed after which his palace and two vehicles were set ablaze alongside other buildings in the community.

Confirming the incident, an indigene, Makau Mohammed said that the bandits came to the town around 11 pm on Tuesday night and blocked all the roads leading to the town then started shooting sporadically.

He said that while some bandits entered into Gada, others stood at the outskirts to ensure no one escaped.

According to him, the bandits operated unchallenged for several hours during which they entered and searched many homes and carted aways several items including foodstuffs.

He added that the assailants killed the district head because he refused to obey their directives.

“He (the District Head) was shot dead by the bandits because he resisted the attempt to abduct him”.

“When bandits realized that, the District Head was not ready to go with them to their den, they shot him multiple times until he died.

“They later set his palace on fire where several items including his two vehicles were burnt down,” Mohammed added.
