The Mubi Emirate Council of Adamawa State has refuted media reports that the emir of Mubi, Alhaji Abubakar Isa Ahmadu, has left his palace for Yola, the state capital as a result of activities of Boko Haram insurgents in the area.

Addressing newsmen on Wednesday in Yola, the spokesperson of the council, who is also the Danruwata Mubi, Chief John Babani Elias, explained that the entire emirate observed with dismay the media propaganda regarding the emirs leaving Mubi for Yola on September 7, 2014.

Elias said the emir never left Mubi at the wake of the insurgent; rather as the Amirul Hajj for the 2014 Hajj operation for Adamawa State and as a leader, he went to Yola to meet with members of the delegation to make adequate preparations for the pilgrims.

According to him, “the Emir did not leave Mubi for Yola as an escape from the insurgents but rather for meeting with members of the 2014 pilgrimages delegation committee, which he is the leaders and would return to Mubi immediately the meeting is over.”

The Danruwata Mubi, who is a member of Mubi Emirate, cautioned the rumour peddlers to desist from spreading information that has no source and creating panic to the people of Mubi and the state in general.
