Popular human rights lawyer, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa SAN says a Muslim-Muslim ticket in present-day Nigeria will fuel extremism.

He stated this same day that the APC presidential flagbearer, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is a Yoruba Muslim, picked Senator Kashim Shettima, a Northern Muslim, as his running mate for the 2023 presidential election.

“Shettima’s career in politics and beyond shows that he is eminently qualified not only to deliver that all-important electoral victory, but, also, step into the shoes of the Vice-President.

“As a man with the talent, maturity, strength of character, and patriotism, he has my implicit confidence and faith.

“I am aware that many will continue focus on a particular detail, the question of his faith,” Tinubu said of his choice.

However, Adegboruwa said the choice of Muslim-Muslim ticket was not only “insensitive” but also “terrible”.

According to him, Muslim-Muslim ticket will fuel Boko Haram and incentivise the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

He urged Nigerians to reject the ruling APC with their votes in 2023.

Adegboruwa said, “It is a terrible choice, in one million ways!!!

“Nigerians, whether Muslims, Christians, Traditionalists, etc, should reject APC with their votes come 2023.

“A Muslim-Muslim ticket in present-day Nigeria is fuel for Boko Haram, incentive for ISWAP and a call for more terrorists.

“Unless of course those parading the ticket are themselves complicit.

“There is no better way to insult our sensibilities.”
