The Imo State Government has uncovered a massive fraud within its government.

It revealed that the high level fraud within the State Pension Board had been ongoing for a number of years by high level officials in the Board along with some other retired civil servants.

The Imo State Chief of Staff, Chief Uche Nwosu made the disclosure in an interview with The Daily Sun.

At the Government House in Owerri, Nwosu said the high level fraud was discovered following investigations by an audit panel. He added that those found guilty in connection with the fraud have been removed including the head of the Board.

The Chief of Staff noted that the discovery led to the authentication of the actual pension of N600 million as against the originally quoted N1.3 billion.
