Nigeria is home to some of the world’s most talented skit makers who have taken social media platforms by storm. These creators produce hilarious, relatable, and engaging content that resonates with Nigerian audiences and beyond. Here are Nigeria’s top 10 skit makers, in no particular order:
1. Maraji
Born as Gloria Olorunto, Maraji has been making skits since as far back as 2015/2016. The newly married skit maker and mother of a beautiful boy, Jayden, is known for her hilarious skits that are often in relation with a typical Nigerian home scenario, she revealed in one of her videos that her inspiration on skits are drawn from her experience while growing up.
Maraji is currently one of the most respected skit makers in Africa and has a very large following on her Instagram page.
2. Twyse116
Born as Ereme Abraham, Twyse is popularly recognized in Nigeria as one of those multi talented skit makers who can dabble in music as much as they can make skits.
The skitmaker first started with his short YouTube skits which often features Tobi, Mama Tobi, Daddy Tobi, Junior, Sade and Taofeek, Grandmas, amongst other characters created by the talented skitmaker.
His music talent is born out of the Taofeek role who is known in the skits to be an artist who makes remix of popular Nigerian songs.
3. Taaooma
Akpaokagi Adedoyin Mariam is a comedian, online creator, cinematographer and social media influencer. She creates skits with major relief in the sight of Teni, a role created by her videos.
Her skits gained wide popularity after the known Mama Tao constantly Taooma in the skits and the cast of Young Money T; a failed artist and chronic womanizer.
4. Broda Shaggi
Samuel Perry, better known as Broda Shaggi rose to fame with his popular skits where he always used the phrase “any question of the day? Oya hit me!”
Before finally evolving into a wider range of comedy, creating comic relief with his bad grammar and funny fashion statement.
Broda Shaggi over the years have now entered the entertainment industry, being an actor and also an artist, whose music though not so wide virally, is as good as his acting skills.
5. Sabinus
Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Ejekwu better known as Sabinus or Investor Sabinus, rose to popularity only recently from 2020/2021. He created short skits where always at the end of his videos, he regrets his decisions.
Sabinus only gained more reputation following his 2022 AMVCA win, with his following on Twitter increasing rapidly and his every post, amassing nothing less than 10,000 likes.
6. Gilmooree
Gilmore born as Eliezer Paul-Gindiri is vividly reliving everyone’s childhood with his skits and tiktok videos that largely are relatable and nostalgic.
Gilmore’s skits range from childhood sibling relationships to university experiences, amongst other lovely memories the skitmaker brings to our screens.
7. Layiwasabi
Issac Ayomide Olayiwola’s social media page is highly addictive where his skits are not only relatable, but also very multifaceted.
Layiwasabi’s talents with his recent thriving in the social media world since last year has tagged him as an old soul in a young body- where he makes slapstick’s of Yoruba movies, recreate CEO-employee relationship, and many more.
8. Lasisi Elenu
The power in Nosa Afolabi’s skit is his voice filter which he uses to enhance his skits even more.
The skitmaker who also dabbles into actual Nollywood movies is known for his skits which are mostly in comparison between both male and female genders and the western world and Nigeria.
He became popular with his earlier skit where he always assumed the stance of an angry person, starting with “something just happened right now”
9. Sydney Talker
Although now an established record label boss and music entrepreneur, Sydney Erege has always been that funny skitmaker who has the most hilarious facial expressions.
His skit making is often drawn from relatable relationship affairs, as well as sometimes, the true realities of a Nigerian youth.
He came to limelight in 2016, with his skit ‘The Poor Power Supply’. His other nickname, is The Towel Guy.
10. Justin UG
Justin Ugonna Chukwudi is currently the hot and trendy skitmaker of 2023, with his High School Chronicles series which portrays the typical high school drama ranging from teachers issues to high school romance and others.
He also makes skits that displays an Igbo home, and the reaction of fathers in public igbo settings.
