‘New cat’: Bill Gates confirms Wizkid, Davido’s superiority over Burna Boy

American billionaire, Bill Gates may have just settled the controversy generated by Davido’s description of Burna Boy as a ‘new cat’.

Earlier in the month, Davido sparked controversy after he called the likes of Burna Boy, Fireboy, Rema, Mayorkun and Asake the ‘new cats’.

According to him, Wizkid and himself had paved the way for the new cats in the Afrobeat music industry.

Many Burna Boy fans faulted Davido over the comment, saying the Grammy Award-winning star was his contemporary and not a junior colleague.

A fan of the Last Last crooner, Hyke_ray said: “New Cat with Grammy. Older Cat never gets one nomination.”

In an Instagram post shared shortly after the controversy broke, Burna Boy noted that his goal is to leave an impact for eternity.

“Uniting people from all walks of life has always been my dream. We’re Leaving An Impact For Eternity. Love, Damini,” Burna Boy wrote.

However, Bill Gates appeared to have put the controversy to rest by insinuating Wizkid and Davido’s preeminence.

According to The Punch, Bill Gates, who is currently in Nigeria, said his youngest daughter, Phoebe, was excited he would see Nigerian music stars – Burna Boy and Rema – during his visit.

Bill Gates, who delivered his opening address at an event in Lagos State on Wednesday, insinuated that before his 20-year-old daughter’s remark, he did not know about Burna Boy and Rema.

“When my daughter Phoebe heard I was coming to Nigeria, she said, “You’re lucky because you get to see Burna Boy and Rema, so I had to look them up…because I’m so ‘hip’. But I remember the last time I was here, I got to see Davido & Wizkid perform,” Bill Gates said.
