Before you get lost and ask what is he talking about. The 100x is a Digital zoom. It’s software-based and as such, there is a loss of quality the further you zoom in. By contrast, Optical zoom is mechanical. There’s is no loss of quality in the image even when you zoom in to the highest level. Much like the zoom of a DSLR camera.

With tech advancement in the area, the camera field the line between optical and digital zoom is beginning to blur out. Apple, Google and others are relying heavily on advanced algorithms and digital enhancements to make mobile pictures the best they can be.
