Niger State Governor, Dr Muazu Babangida Aliyu has charged Nigerians to pray for the success of the incoming APC administration of President- elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari and states governors in the country, insisting that doing otherwise is tantamount to a failure of the nation.

Aliyu made the call in Minna yesterday after commissioning projects executed by the managements of the Niger State College of Education and that of the newly established University of Education both in Minna insisted that some of them saw the victory of APC coming when the ruling party lost five governors to the than opposition APC.

“We should all pray for the success of the APC government at the federal level and those that will take over in the states; we should not pray for their failure because failure will be failure of the community”.

Aliyu said the society will benefit the most from the success of the new leadership to be installed in the country which therefore requires the support and prayers of all Nigerians.

As a result, Governor Aliyu said there must be a virile opposition meaning all those that lost out in the last general elections especially in the ruling Peoples Democratic Party should not run into the APC, as one party state will be undemocratic and inimical to the political growth of the nation.

He said PDP members should join hands to rebuild the party so that it will be formidable enough to confront the APC in the 2019 general elections.

Aliyu blamed the defeat of the PDP at the federal level and in most states on the defection of 5 PDP governors to the opposition APC the merger of most of the then opposition political parties.

On the projects inaugurated in the institutions, Governor Aliyu said they will assist to facilitate the take-off of what he called “the premier University of Education in the Northern part of the country”.

Earlier in his speech, Chairman of the Governing Council of the College of Education, Professor Mohammed Daniyan told the gathering that 6 of the projects were embarked upon for the University of Education while 4 others will be made available to the College of Education.

About N1bn was sourced from the special education intervention funds and from internally generated revenue for the execution of the projects.

Meanwhile, the governor said after the handover to the APC Governor on May 29, this year he will not be politically visible “until 2019 when I will come back in a big way”.

He however did not say in what role he will be coming back into the politics of the country in 2019 but he has been a serious advocate of a reorganization of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which suffered a serious defeat in the general elections held recently in the country.

Aliyu has asked his colleagues who lost in the election not to allow their defeat to make them jump ship to the new party that will be at the helms of affairs in the country on May 29.

He spoke against allowing the APC to turn Nigeria to a one party state which he argued will not be democratic and will also be against the political growth of the country.
