The Nigeria Football Federation has unveiled Gernot Rohr as the new technical adviser for the Super Eagles.

The NFF boss confirmed that the German coach currently working on development programmes for the German Football Federation is expected to arrive in Nigeria on Saturday to take over affairs.

He is also expected to be in Lagos on Sunday where he would be in the stands to watch the league match between Ikorodu United and Sunshine Stars to acclimatize to the new environment.

According to the Head of the NFF Amaju Pinnick, “We are just tying up the little details left to be handled. The work started quite a while ago but there was the need to wait until everything firmed up before making it public.”

Rohr is a very experienced coach who has coached the likes of Girondins Bordeaux and also has extensive coaching experience on the continent, having coached Etoile du Sahel, Niger Republic and Burkina Faso.

Rohr will be formally unveiled on Monday.

The Super Eagles who are currently ranked 70th in the world were placed in the “group of death” in the qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup.

This would signal the end of the long and arduous search for a new coach after the likes of Paul Le Guen had been considered.

He will now work together with Salisu Yusuf to prepare the Nigerian team.
