Nigerian Activist Verydarkman’s Release Delayed Despite Meeting Bail Conditions

1 Min Read

The lawyer for Nigerian activist Martins Vincent Otse, known online as Verydarkman, claims his client has met all bail conditions but remains in custody.

Verydarkman’s arrest stems from defamation charges levied by actress Tonto Dikeh. Dikeh accuses Verydarkman of alleging her involvement with the controversial gossip blog Gistlover.

In a social media video, Verydarkman’s lawyer stated that “stringent” bail conditions were imposed, including securing two high-ranking government officials as sureties. The lawyer claims these conditions were met, but Verydarkman’s release was delayed due to the absence of a “top official” to sign the paperwork.

Further media reports suggest additional requirements such as a N200 million bond and a businessman’s passport surrender for one year.

The situation has sparked conversation online, with many questioning the severity of the bail conditions. Verydarkman’s lawyer suggests these demands may be connected to a previous legal battle where Dikeh and her associates “lost.”
