Renowned Nigerian singer Kingsley Okonkwo, popularly known as Kcee, disclosed that he kickstarted his career as a disc jockey. Speaking on the latest episode of the Afrobeats Podcast, the ‘Limpopo’ crooner opened up about his early days in the music scene, shedding light on his roots in the industry.

Kcee shared that he and his brother, Emeka Okonkwo, famously known as E-Money and the co-founder of Five Star Music, initially pursued careers as disc jockeys before transitioning into their roles as successful artists and music entrepreneurs. Reflecting on his upbringing, Kcee revealed, “My father was a DJ, a record seller. I grew up in a home where my father sold records. So all the old-school artists, I know their music. I was selling their records when I was about 5 or 6 years old.

The singer went on to reminisce about his time in secondary school, where he was already managing a full record store and entertaining crowds at parties alongside E-Money.
