Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is facing heavy backlash after the agency reported the arrest of 89 suspected yahoo boys in an Ibadan popular nightclub.

Some Nigerians have accused the anti-graft agency of engaging in selected prosecution saying if they clamped down on corrupt politicians as much as they harassed yahoo boys, Nigeria will be in a better position economically.

Others said the anti-graft agency made the arrest without making proper investigations, sayingbit was impossible for 89 internet fraudsters to be in the same location at the same time.

This is a shakedown. You could be in a bar tomorrow drinking and screaming at Lacazette for missing a tap in and EFCC will rush in a grab you. Next thing, you are appearing on the news as a yahoo boy
@gimbakakanda

Please, who knows how this works? When EFCC operatives raid a nightclub based on intel that it harbors fraudsters, how do they tell Yahoo boys from innocent partiers there? It’s not fair to arrest anyone for merely being in a club, and then release them later. That’s harassment.

EFCC will randomly March Into club and bars. Arrest innocent men, open twitter and shout “ we arrested 89 yahoo boys”. No investigation, no trial, no nothing, accuse and investigative. Lol, red clothed Sars.

@london_used

When will EFCC raid the National Assembly???we have enough yahoo men there

@NeddMichaels

As a guy, you dare not step out looking posh these days. EFCC will arrest and tag you a Yahoo boy. Maybe, I’ll start using my old blackberry phone. If you dodge SARS, EFCC will appear from nowhere.
