The Nigerian Sports Minister, Solomon Dalung, has confirmed that he was not updated about the appointment of a new German coach, Gernot Rohr, to head the Nigerian Super Eagles.
Insisting that he was left out of the loop by the Nigeria Football Federation, the Sports minister noted that the only ws to push the nation’s development in terms of sports is to develop indigenous coaches.
Recall that the NFF signed on the German coah following the public resignation of the national team’s former coach, Sunday Oliseh.
Dalung said: “We have a German-born coach but that is not official to me anyway, because I have only been reading about it online.
“However, I will continue to maintain that we need to develop our own.
“There is no better way of making progress than to develop our own indigenous coaches.”
