Nigerian rapper Blaqbonez is no stranger to controversy, and this time, he’s sparking a heated debate online about the current state of music. The firestorm erupted when a social media user called out Blaqbonez for seemingly contradicting himself. The commenter pointed out that Blaqbonez has collaborated with Afrobeat artists in the past, despite previously criticizing the genre.

In his defense, Blaqbonez argued that the overall quality of music releases in 2024 has been underwhelming. He stated that in the past three months, he’s only added two new songs to his personal playlist. He went on to express his dissatisfaction with the Top 100 charts, claiming they are “designed by farmers,” implying a lack of quality control.
