A social critic and journalist, Gimba Kakanda, says it is untrue that money can be got through rituals.

According to him, “No sorcery on this planet can mint your country’s banknotes.”

Kakanda stated this in a Facebook post on Saturday evening.

His comment came in the wake of the burial ceremony of the mother of Obi Cubana, in Oba, Anambra State, where guests sprayed money with reckless abandon.

Photos and videos of the event circulating on social media got many querying the sources of wealth of some of the guests, with some suggesting money rituals.

In an apparent reaction, Kakanda said, “There’s no way you can ever turn human parts into money. No sorcery on this planet can mint your country’s banknotes.

“Stop wasting your resources at the shrines of these charlatans asking for the head of your loved ones in exchange for fortunes.

“These things are figments of some scriptwriters’ imagination, and it’s eaten deep into the psyche of our anti-scientific society.

“No human being got their money from converting their loved ones into a mint.

“That thing only happens in Nollywood. There are thieves and there are scammers, and both flaunt blood money. There are also politicians.
