Renowned Nollywood actress Ngozi Ezeonu has taken to her Instagram account to vehemently deny rumors circulating about her alleged demise. The veteran actress addressed the speculations in a video, clarifying the misunderstanding behind a previous post that had triggered the false reports.
Ezeonu explained that her earlier Instagram post featuring a candle was a heartfelt tribute to a dear friend she had recently lost. Expressing her disappointment, she lamented how bloggers had taken the tribute out of context, distorting it into a narrative suggesting her own death.
Cautioning against the dangerous trend of spreading death rumors without proper evidence and confirmation, the seasoned thespian emphasized the importance of responsible journalism. She asserted, “In journalism, what you do when in doubt is you leave out. If you cannot get across to the person to at least confirm the story, you don’t post.”
Addressing the potential harm caused by baseless rumors, Ezeonu urged media practitioners to exercise discretion and responsibility in their reporting. She passionately implored, “Don’t do that, please. Don’t try it again. This is a new year, why would anybody want to hurt each other just because they want people to follow them?”
