Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has congratulated the Nigerian people on the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)’s decision to obey the Supreme Court order on the naira redesign policy.

Last week, the apex court ordered that the old N500 and N1,000 remained legal tender until December 31, 2023.

Pursuant to that order, the CBN announced in a statement on Monday night that it had directed commercial banks to accept and issue the old notes.

The CBN’s announcement was greeted with relief from many Nigerians on social media and on the streets.
