Ondo APC Governorship Aspirant, Olabimtan Regains Freedom

Former Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly and aspirant in the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the state’s 2016 Governorship election, Victor Olabimtan has been released from captivity on Wednesday evening.

He is undergoing medical check-up and treatment in Abuja.

The Secretary, Victor Olabimtan Initiative for Change and Emancipation (VOICE), Gboyega Ajayi, said: “We thank and appreciate the Federal Government, police, security agencies and All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders for their prayers and support.

“We also thank the media for their wide coverage of the incident.”

Olabimtan was said to be going for a meeting in Abuja when he was kidnapped at Kwali after he was flagged down at a military checkpoint by fake soldiers who turned out to be kidnappers.

His abduction comes barely 48 hours after he declared his intention to run for the All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship ticket in the state.
