A Pakistani woman and a Nigerian man, both unnamed have been arrested in Dubai, UAE in connection with possession and promotion of drugs.
The arrest was made following a tip off of the Dubai Police Anti-Narcotics Department.
The department learnt that the Nigerian man would receive consignment of drugs from a woman in the municipal park near Union metro station, after completion of necessary paperwork, the department on November 3 surveyed the area and observed the Nigerian man approaching the park in a suspicious manner.
Later, the woman, 40, in Pakistani wear also arrived at the park in possession of a plastic bag which she swapped to the Nigerian man.
Following the exchange, the policemen arrested the two and upon checking the plastic bag discovered 5.5kg of heroin.
The Dubai Prosecution has required the court to impose stiff penalties against the two accused.
The court will reconvene on March 17 for further proceeding.
