PDP’s Tambuwal, Bafarawa Deny Rumours Of Rift

The Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal and his predecessor, Attahiru Bafarawa have denied rumours of a rift between them.

The duo, who are members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), disclosed this after a Saturday night stakeholders meeting in the state capital, Sokoto.

On his part, Tambuwal described the rumours of a rift as “false and baseless” and a figment of the imagination of its purveyors.

The governor said he has enjoyed a cordial and harmonious relationship with PDP party leaders and members in the state since his defection several weeks ago.

Therefore, he urged party members to disregard the rumours.

He further thanked other party leaders and members for their unflinching support for his administration, adding that mutual respect between himself and Bafarawa will always exist.

Reiterating the united within the PDP family in the state, Tambuwal said that it was borne out of the patriotic disposition of both himself and Bafarawa and pledged to work to ensure it remained so.

Tambuwal stressed that was no old or new PDP as the major concern every stakeholder is to move the PDP, state and Nigeria forward.

He stated that his administration would ensure that the expected appointment of local government sole administrators, commissioners and other government functionaries comply with principles of justice and fairness to party members and the appointments would be made soon.

Tambuwal and Bafarawa are both seeking the presidential ticket of the PDP ahead of the 2019 general election.

Reacting, Bafarawa affirmed the cordial relationship between himself and Tambuwal.

The former Governor said Tambuwal is the leader of the PDP in the state.

Bafarawa urged party members to support the governor and disregard rumour mongers.

While restating his support for the Tambuwal administration, Bafarawa urged him to always create avenues for other party leaders to advise him on issues.
