Ukrainian Plane Crashes In Iran, Killing 176 People

Ukrainian airline has on January 8, 2020, crashed in Iran, killing a total number of 176 that were on board the plane, including all 167 passengers and 9 crew members.

 

The plane crash occurred shortly after taking off from the Tehran’s Imam Khomeini airport according to the reports by the Iranian media outlets.

 

It has also been reported that preliminarily, technical issues were cited as the possible cause of the crash.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, gave his condolences and stated that Ukraine was making efforts to determine the cause of the crash as well as the extent of casualties.

 

In a statement he said; 

 

“My sincere condolences to the relatives and friends of all passengers and crew,” Zelenskiy said, announcing that he was breaking off his visit to Oman to return to Kyiv.
