He stated that the Police officer who pulled the trigger had confessed and would be dealt with according to the law alongside others found culpable in the murder.

The Police Spokesperson said,

The latest information available to me is that they are being tried in an orderly room. Sergeant Ben Isaiah (the alleged killer cop) and four others are from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and not the Special Anti-Robbery Squad.

“At the end of the orderly room trial, those found culpable will be dealt with.

He stated that the killer cop will be dismissed from service and charged for murder of the Port Harcourt Artiste.

“Sergeant Ben Isaiah has made confessions. He has agreed that he shot the victim. So, he has confessed to the case against him as it were. First and foremost, he will be dismissed and eventually charged with murder.

The spokesperson appealed for calm stating that murder investigations are often complex and intricate matters.

“It takes quite some time. This is a murder case and the punishment for murder is death. Remember that in a murder trial, even when the accused person does not have a lawyer, the court provides a lawyer for such a person.

“It means that the process requires a lot meticulousness to ensure that an innocent person does not suffer for what he didn’t do. That is why it is taking this long.

“I want to use this medium to appeal to the parents. We feel their pain and we know how it is for them.”
