Properties razed as fire engulfs David Mark’s home

An early Thursday morning fire incident at the Otukpo, Benue State country home of ex-Senate President, David Mark has left properties running into millions of naira destroyed.

According to reports, the fire started from a bush near a guest house located within the property before spreading to a portion where 15 motorcycles and 2 ambulances were parked.

All the items were reported razed in the inferno.

Mark, in a statement through one of his aides, Elijah Adakole, confirmed the incident.

He said that while workers in the residence tried in vain to put out the fire, they could not until men of the Benue State Fire Service, Otukpo office were contacted.

The statement read in part, “Earlier this morning (Thursday 2nd 2020), fire incident was reported in the Otukpo residence of the former Senate President, Senator (Dr) David Mark.

“The cause of the incident is yet to be ascertained but some properties including 15 motorcycles and two vehicles were burnt.

“The arrival of the Fire Service personnel prevented the inferno from spreading to the entire building. The fire has since been put out. No life was lost.”
