Police have uncovered a cache of deadly and dangerous weapons inside the home of a lawmaker said to belong to the All Progressives Congress in Gusau, Zamfara.

A special task force from Abuja acting on a tip off raided the lawmakers homes in Gusau and Tsafe, a neighbouring town.

Sources say intelligence report on the lawmaker’s activities was received following a tip-off from suspected gun runners turned police informants in Kano.

“We learnt that it was based on this revelation that the security operatives stormed his two houses in Tsafe town and Takama in Gusau metropolis,” a source said.

Investigations also uncovered the fact that the lawmaker was initially invited for questioning over his romance with cattle rustlers in the State.

It will be recalled that several hundred heads of cattle belonging to the Vice President were stolen in a brazen robbery recently.

Speaking on the development, Zamfara Police spokesman, DSP Lawal Abdullahi, said the raid was carried out by a special team from Abuja but declined further comment on the matter.
