RIO 2016: Team Nigeria’s Kit Arrives 3 Days To Competition’s End

As the countdown to the end of the Olympics game start and hits the 3-days-to-go mark, the Nigerian team’s kit has finally arrived.

Recall that the Nigerian athletes were forced to parade in their respective tracksuits at opening ceremony of the competition.

Nigerians in reaction to the public spectacle regarded the development as an international embarrassment to the country.

The team however took delivery of the kits three days to the end of the competition which has seen the Nigerian U-23 team flushed out from the competition following the loss against Germany in the semi finals draw.

Speaking on the development, a top official of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria while speaking to Sports Vanguard Thursday said the kits arrived on Wednesday night.

The official further added that the kits will however serve no important use as most of the athletes have left after concluding their events.

The official said: “I have never experienced this in my years in sports. Money meant for the Games was held tightly by ministry officials and they were just releasing money piecemeal. We had to buy kits on our own while some athletes competed in their personal kits.”
