Missing UniAbuja Student Found Dead in Car Accident

A 400-level female student of the University of Abuja, Murjanatu Zubairu, who was declared missing on Friday, April 26, has been confirmed dead after a car accident along the Lugbe-Airport Road, Abuja.

According to reports, the student, who was in the Department of Arts Education in the university’s Faculty of Education, left home for school on Friday but tragically lost her life in the car crash.

The accident, which occurred at 8:34 p.m. on Friday, involved a Toyota Sharon bus that suddenly went up in flames, killing four people, including Zubairu, on the spot. Six others who sustained burns were rescued by Airforce personnel and treated in their hospital.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) evacuated the four bodies, including Zubairu’s, to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital’s morgue in Gwagwalada.

Zubairu’s uncle, Zubairu Yewuti, a former vice chairman of Kwali Area Council of the FCT, confirmed her death and said the family has made arrangements to retrieve her corpse from the morgue for proper burial.

The university community and family friends have been thrown into mourning following the tragic loss of the young student.
