Nollywood star Rita Dominic is opening up about her decision to wait until later in life to get married. The 48-year-old actress, who tied the knot with Fidelis Anosike in April 2022, recently spoke with Joy 99.7 FM about her perspective on marriage.
Dominic explained that she deliberately avoided societal pressure to marry young. “I wanted to be sure that I was marrying for the right reasons and not for the reasons that stem from societal pressure,” she shared.
Despite facing years of marriage expectations, Dominic remained resolute. “The pressure was there for years but I just turned deaf ears,” she said. “I will marry the man of my dreams and not the man that anybody dreams for me.“
She emphasized taking ownership of her choices. “If anything goes wrong tomorrow, I would be the one left to pack up the pieces and not the society. So, I will do it when I want to do it at the right time.” Dominic believes she found the right partner at the right time.
When asked if the delay was due to finding the perfect match, Dominic revealed, “I met quite a number of people but maybe we just didn’t happen. It just didn’t work out. And I don’t believe in forcing things.“
She dispelled the notion that her celebrity status impacted her marriage timeline. “Being a celebrity wasn’t the reason for my delayed marriage,” she clarified.
