The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Rivers State, Prof. Zacchaeus Adangor SAN has resigned from office.

Adangor made this known in a letter addressed to Governor Siminalayi Fubara and forwarded Thursday through the Secretary to the State Government’s office.

The senior lawyer said his resignation is based on personal principles.

The resignation letter read in part, “The above subject refers.

“I hereby give Your Excellency Notice of my resignation as the Honourable Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Rivers State with effect from the date of this letter.

“For the avoidance of doubt, my resignation from the said office is based purely on personal principles.

“I wish to thank Your Excellency for the opportunity and privilege granted me to serve in your administration as a member of the Cabinet. My family and I are indebted to Your Excellency in gratitude.

Adangor’s resignation comes amid a political tussle between Governor Fubara and his estranged godfather, Nyesom Wike.

On Tuesday, 27 lawmakers believed to be loyal to Wike defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

On Wednesday, Fubara presented the state’s 2024 budget to five members of the 32-member assembly.
