Robbers Attack Gov Yero’s Father, Others

The father of Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero of Kaduna State, Alhaji Ramalan Yero, who holds the traditional title of Turakin Dawakin Zazzau, was on Tuesday attacked by armed robbers on Abuja- Kaduna road.

Investigations revealed that the attack took place as Alhaji Yero and some prominent elders and government officials who were all part of Kaduna state delegation that paid a solidarity and condolence visit to President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday in Abuja, journeyed back to Kaduna.

The Secretary to Kaduna State Government (SSG), Alhaji Hamza Ishaq Danmahawayi; chairman of Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) in Kaduna State, Alhaji Jafaru Makarfi, chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the Catholic Bishop of Zaria Diocese, Most Reverend (Dr) George Dodo were among those that were robbed, when the government owned bus they all boarded ran into a checkpoint erected by the armed robbers.

Sources say Bishop Dodo was attacked with a sharp knife by one of the armed robbers. It was learnt that he sustained injuries when he used his left hand for defense.

The bishop was said to have bled profusely before the robbers freed them, after which he was rushed to St. Gerald Catholic Hospital, Kaduna.

When contacted, Rev Sunday Ibrahim of CAN Kaduna confirmed that Bishop Dodo was responding to treatment and will be discharged soon.
