Current FIFA Ballon D’Or winner, Cristiano Ronaldo proved why he was voted the world’s best player for this year when he netted 5 times to take Real Madrid to the top of the La liga table, albeit momentarily.

Real Madrid walloped Catalan club Espanyol 6-0 in a match that saw the Portuguese get a hat trick in the first 20 minutes of the game.

Karim Benzema added the fourth goal for the Galacticos before Ronaldo came back in the second half to add two more.

This is the second time Ronaldo will be scoring 5 goals in a match in his illustrious career, the first being against Granada in a 9-1 mauling on April 5.

Ronaldo now has 230 goals in 204 league appearances, two more than the previous Real Madrid record holder, Raul, who has 228 goals in 550 league appearances.
