Runsewe, NCAC Boss Sentenced To Prison Over Contempt of Court

An Abuja Federal High court has sentenced Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, Director-General of National Council for Arts and Culture to prison over contempt of court

This was the ruling given by Justice Jude Okeke as the penalty for Runsewe’s disobedience to court orders issued on Dec 15, 2017

Justice Jude Okeke made the order sequel to an interlocutory motion filed by Ummakalif Ltd in the suit against the Minister, Federal Capital Territory, Federal Capital Development Authority, the Director-General National Council for Arts and Culture, and the Minister for Culture and Tourism, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th defendants respectively.

The applicant’s motion prayed the court for an order committing Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, the Director-General of the 3rd Defendant for contempt of the order of court which was given on the 15th December 2017.

Justice Okeke who condemned Runsewe’s act said it would serve as a deterrent to those who abuse court orders and show no respect to the law.
